Courses for STUDENT PIANISTS

The classes for student pianists will be co-ordinated by David Willison. He will meet the participants at 4.30pm on Sunday 16th August to decide what ‘special topics’ the class wants to concentrate on in his 3 class sessions (4th session Mon, Thurs, Fri).

There will be 4 sessions taken by other leading Piano-Accompanists. Terence Allbright and Eugene Asti will hear pianists work on their choice of Lieder and Song repertoire. Please prepare the accompaniments to at least 1 Lied, 1 French Mélodie and 1 English Art-song (not the easy ones!)

As the featured composers this year will be Gounod, Saint-Saens, and Faure please try and find some songs by these to work on. Another composer to be considered, in this French week, is Bizet, who composed some very rewarding songs.

Each student pianist will have 2 private sessions with David Willison; and will be free to follow their partner(s) to singing classes in the other sessions.

Every effort will be made to provide Pianists arriving alone with a singer/partner.

For a glimpse of how it all works (based on the successful 2008 course) see the Typical Week for a Student Pianist.
